If part or all of your nose has been affected by cancer surgery, trauma, or a congenital condition, a custom nasal prosthesis can restore facial symmetry and protect the underlying tissue and airway. No two faces are alike, so no two prostheses are either.
Each prosthesis is sculpted from medical-grade silicone, pigmented intrinsically and finished extrinsically to match your skin under any lighting. The result is designed to blend, not announce itself — from the bridge profile to the nostril edges.
Most nasal prostheses are retained with daily medical-grade adhesive. For patients who want a more secure connection, craniofacial implants can be surgically placed to anchor the prosthesis — we plan that pathway in coordination with your surgeon.

Custom nasal prosthetics are made for patients who have lost part or all of the nose due to cancer surgery (such as rhinectomy for skin cancer), severe trauma, or congenital absence. A prosthesis restores facial symmetry and protects the underlying sinus and airway openings.
Most nasal prostheses are attached using medical-grade skin adhesive, applied once or twice daily. For patients who want a more secure connection, craniofacial implants can be surgically placed to anchor the prosthesis with magnets or clips, eliminating the need for adhesive.
A silicone nasal prosthesis typically remains optimal for about 6 months to 1 year. Over time the silicone absorbs body oils, color can shift, and the thin sculpted edges may fret. Routine maintenance visits and proper daily care extend the lifespan.
Yes. Each prosthesis is hand-sculpted from medical-grade silicone and individually pigmented to match your skin tone under different lighting. Final extrinsic coloring blends surface texture, capillary patterns, and edges so the result reads as part of your face, not an applied object.
Yes. VA benefits cover 100% of the cost of custom nasal prosthetics for eligible veterans, and we coordinate the paperwork directly with the VA. Many private insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid also cover medically necessary nasal prosthetics — we verify your benefits before treatment begins.
The standard fitting process takes four visits: impression of the defect site, sculpting in wax to match your facial proportions, intrinsic coloring blended into the silicone, and final extrinsic coloring with delivery and fitting instruction.
Remove the prosthesis nightly, gently clean both the prosthesis and the skin underneath with mild soap and water, and store it flat in a clean, dry case. Avoid solvents and alcohol-based wipes, which break down the silicone. We provide detailed care instructions at delivery.
